Water Filters Article

A new article I found very well written and informative:

YOUR FAMILY DESERVES NATURALLY HEALTHY, GREAT-TASTING WATER – THEY DESERVE A QUALITY WATER FILTER

But Do You Know What’s Coming Out Of The Tap
 And Into Their Bodies?

I think the more data we get, the more points of view, the better off we will be when it comes to how to protect our family from bad water.  This article needs little introduction.

Whole House Water Filter Installed!

I haven't written anything for a while.  If you have read other posts, you know that I got a bit passionate about water and water filters and I then started this blog.  I also bought a whole house water filter several months ago and never installed it.

You can read other articles about why we need these, and I wrote them myself!  I was convinced then, but now I had mine installed, and it's hard to believe but my hands feel like I have put on lotion, and my normally dry arms and legs have improved so much.

My reason for get one of these water filters for the house was more  because I didn't want to absorb the chlorine when showering and I didn't what the chlorine vapors and VOC's and THM's in my environment.  But this cosmetic effect, which I heard about, is really nice.  I have only had it installed two days, so I will keep you posted.

BTW, you can comment and even link to my blog, but no spam please.

Water Filters or Bottled Water

Bottled water or Water from Water Filters (Filtered Water)–Which is Best?

With the increase in demand for pure water, beverage industry has hit the jackpot by manufacturing bottles to supply pure and natural water. This is right now one of the hottest and most selling products with over multi-billion dollar market segment worldwide.

Ever year millions and millions of dollars are spent in running advertisements campaign to educate customers to drink bottled water which is prescribed to be pure and have come from the mountain springs or underground aquifer. In reality bottled water is a little over the tap water in a bottle.  (There should be as big a ad campaign for water filters!)

UNTIL TODAY, THERE ARE NO STANDARDS INTRODUCED BY THE GOVERNMENT WHICH DIFFERENTIATE A BOTTLED WATER TO BE PURER OR SAFER OR BETTER THAN TAP WATER!

Maximum number of bottles are packaged and sold in same state to avoid any regulations. There is absolutely no guarantee or assurance or government requirements which states bottle water should be of any higher quality that the ordinary tap water.

NRDC or the Natural Resources Defense Council did release a report in March 1999 called “Bottled Water, Pure Drink or Pure Hype?” as per this report, almost 60 to 70 percent of the bottles water does not qualify on the water standards defined by FDA due to the fact that the bottled water is sold within the state itself. The standards made by the federal government would apply when the packaged bottled water is transported outside of the state.

Following are the examples quotes from the NRDC report:

* It’s not confirmed that city tap water contains fecal coliform or E.coli bacteria. FDA bottled water rules do not have any restriction or prohibition which says bottled water can have either a certain amount or any type of coliform bacteria.

* City tap water arriving from surface water to be disinfected and filtered. Whereas bottled water does not have to go through federal disinfection or filtration requirements.

* Two common tests are conducted in most cities for Giardia or Cryptosporidium which are famous water pathogens primarily responsible for diarrhea and various other intestinal problems. Bottle water companies don’t even have to go through this test.

* City tap water still has to undergo standard check to indentify certain levels of toxins or chemicals like phthalate that could lead to cancer like problems. Phthalate is chemical mostly leached from plastic including plastic bottles.  Bottled water companies are exempted by FDA from undergoing this test for chemicals.

The NRDC reports concluded that “Therefore‚ while much tap water is indeed risky‚ having compared available data‚ we conclude that there is no assurance that bottled water is any safer than tap water”

Therefore, now it is very clear that the amount of money we pay per gallon thinking the water is pure, clean and safest of them all is in fact not so sure to be judged as ‘unknown’ on its actual quality.

Its better to have economical yet quality home water treatment systems to do its job and get us the pure and sweet water much needed to remain healthy and fit in this polluted environment.

8 Reasons to Use a Water Filter

If you think you don't need  a water filter think again.

1.    If you don't have a clean source of water, you won't be able to capitalize on the health benefits of water.

2.    It has been obvious for years contaminated and impure water is probably leading cause of epidemic disease in developing countries.

3.    About 2,000 drinking water contaminants maybe be present in your tap water, not  the lease of  which are several known poisons.

4.    The presence of toxins in your drinking water may be the main contributor to several types of cancer.  (Keeping in mind the person's immune system health)

5.    A child's healthy mental and physical development must be assisted by clean, healthy drinking water.  This is essential.

6.    Bottled water is not the viable alternative you have been lead to believe.

You Need to Drink Water SO… You Need a Water Filter!

Someone I know uses the slogan "Use a Water Filter or BE a Filter" I realized as I started writing my first post on this water blog that folks who don't have a  water filter might start getting a little scared or paranoid as they learn the facts about water.  But it is not my intention to freak anyone out.   Fear never helps.  Action does.

So here's the deal, as you learn more about why you need to drink enough water, and why just any water really isn't the answer, and can even hurt you, I recommend you buy a water filter right away if you can.  You can get a really inexpensive one for over the counter for $99 or less.  I recommend the Aquasana Counter Top and you will see a link to 3 distributors which have them at on sale by clicking on water filters.

But look, if you can't buy a water filter right now, and if you are like me who already bought a reverse osmosis (R.O.) here's what you do.  If you are going to buy bottle water, you might want to think twice.  I am doing some research on the bottle water issue myself, and will soon have some good articles up for you.

So what do you do then?  Well, consider that for the amount of money you spend on your bottled water you can buy the $99 Aquasana water filter, so there is a solution for you, once you save your money to buy it.

Ok, for the moment what do you do, if you can't buy it right now.. First, don't be overly concerned, just so you know you are going to handle the situation.  Secondly, here is some advice that comes from a doctor who wrote the Water Cure.  Put your water in a container and leave over night so the chlorine and other gases can evaporate, and they will evaporate.  At the very least here, you will have water that is safer to drink.

The next thing to do, and this is also very important --critical--for R.O. owners, add a pinch of Celtic Sea Salt to the water to make it naturally akaline and also to add the right minerals back to the water.

The salt has to be some kind of complete salt without all the minerals taken out.    The easiest and best salt I know of is Celtic Sea Salt and you can order it online or buy it at the health food store.  Your body needs salt BUT NOT sodium, which is what the table salt you use contains, and if you use sea salt, well, if it's white, it ain't got the minerals any more   So don't fool yourself.

To be honest, I have been using the Celtic Sea Salt with my R.O. water filter, and I am going to replace it was an Aquasana as soon as I can.  But in the meantime I am going to be more diligent about the sea salt.  It's just a pinch in a liter of water.

If you don't have a water filter, consider the inexpensive Aquasana, which I actually think is on sale right now at several of the websites I checked out.

Click on => water filters to check out the sale and if you have $99 bucks, buy it today, because I think they are offering free shipping and a big discount till the end of the month.  I have $500 invested in my R.O., if not I would be running over there myself--I mean surfing over there myself.
